First Nations

Here in Canada they refer to Native Americans as First Nations.  There are many perspectives on the First Nations here in Saskatchewan.  The Royal Mounted Police laud the settling of the Canadian west as "very peaceful" with regard to the First Nations.  Sounded plausible, until we visited the Wanushewin Heritage Center (Cree Tribe) and read some of the Cree accounts.   History aside, exploring the world of the First Nations and their creations has been mind-expanding.

My favorite image from Wanushewin.

Pencil portraits of Cree tribe members by a local artist.

These faces say so much about their lives.

And the one who made it all possible.

Geology 101

No one who has ever traveled the American West can think of geology as boring.   We stumbled onto Makoshita State Park in Glendive, Montana.   Enjoy nature's playdoh.

Our first Geocache!

A narrow fellow in the grass.  Fortunately he warned us he was there.

Brave Flora of the Rockies

You have to admire mountain flora.  They are so brave.

And my favorite, because the mighty oak was once a little nut
that held its ground.

Clouds I

Western clouds and big skies speak for themselves, especially the last image.

What do you see?

The Black Hills

Lewis and Clark. My Heroes.

Some people will frame anything.

Ever upward.

Always a different perspective.

Through the eye of the needle.  Needles, SD, that is.

Nature at her most dramatic.

Intrepid

Intrepid.  I've always wanted to be intrepid.  Does this work?

Grave Site of Sgt. Floyd, the only man to die on the Lewis and Clark expedition.

US 20, where did you go?

US 20 resurfaced, dramatically.

Some people will frame anything!
